You get mad at your .PSD for weighing more than 25 MB. On Saturday I re-did the Winning Poster from the scratch on 18 x 24 @ 300 DPI and prepare it for printing and every CMD + S took about 5 minutes. Photoshop CS3 ate about 10 GB on temporary scratch files. Boy am I excited to finally send this to the printer.
If anyone wants to be notified when they ready for their debut, be sure to let your email on the comments. Thank you!

Ok, since you pointed out I might as well tell you the truth. I SUCK AT ILLUSTRATOR. It’s true, I do. Although I do some things on Illustrator, I always find myself putting everything together on Photoshop.
When my brother and I used to work at a local newspaper, I remember we used Corel Draw! to design the Sunday Morning Magazine, and at that time I remember I had a 486 running at a blazing 33 MHZ with 16 MB of RAM. The center page alone weighted over 150 MB.
Here’s how it went down:
8:30 am - Open the file and go get some coffee
9:00 am - After getting back from the coffee shop, stare at the screen for about 10 minutes.
9:10 am - Finished open the file and you’re ready to work.
PS: Oh so THAT’S what’s been eating my hard drive back in Windows! Stupid TMP files! :)

This is what sucks me in collaborative work with my colleagues here @ the advert agency - one guy does the photoshop work after another does his illustrator work, so the third can put all the stuff together in InDesign. Phew…
All this just for not jamming your computer and so the printers have no problems with colour separations.
Well… welcome to DTP’s life :)
A tip: it helps a lot to have your scratch disks connected with SATA or Firewire since it’s the only thing in your machine working on it’s peak performance while saving, resizing or rotating layers :)

@mavX, dude! that’s a great tip. I’m on an iMac so Raid and or external SATA it’s not an option, but I’ll be sure to get a Firewire external hard drive as soon as I can, specially with this whole Time Machine thingy where it comes really handy. Thank you!

Hey great poster! When will it be available for purchase? I will buy it the minute it comes out.

@Juanma, always happy to help! I’m on Mac too (Macbook Pro to be precise) so sometimes I use the 800Firewire or the external ride in other computer connected with 1GBps LAN (did you know it’s faster than SATA? :) )
Sure beautiful poster you made! Will you sell it in Europe? Let me know, so I can fill that place on the wall in front of my sofa and look at it all evening long :)
cheers!

Felicitaciones and congrats on winning the competition! It was well deserved. I’d love to buy your poster if you put it up for sale, an as long as it’s not way too expensive ;) It will look great on anybody’s wall I think.

Nice poster! And so very true indeed :) The last ones (svenska and 1971) are also very good! I would like to buy the competition winner, but I’m not sure if you send it to Europe? Thanks and keep up the good work.

@Fredrik: I will let you know as soon as they are ready to hit the road. Being a poster lover (and buyer) myself, I really want it to be something really worth it. High quality paper and proper weight. In the past I bought some stuff from Deviant Art myself that wasn’t really what I was expecting and truth to be told, it sucks paying for bad quality products.
@Ben Joossen: Not to be confused with Ben Johnson the athlete I guess? :D Thank you! I will most definitively ship to Europe so sit tight while I’m getting everything ready.

Thanks for the quick reply, will I receive an email if you are ready for shipment? I stumbled upon your poster, and now I want more :), so I’m searching for some other good ones, you know any good sites on this. (I already found iso50) Thanks!
